How to lose weight after a baby
Being a mom is a very rewarding experience. We love our little ones and cherish them. But there comes a time after having that baby when you look in the mirror and wish you had your old pre-baby body back. Here are 7 tips to help you get back in shape after baby!
1. Don’t diet
This is especially important if you’re breastfeeding, but even if you aren’t, it’s so important for your body to get the nutrition it needs. Don’t deprive your body of food or else it will start storing fat because it will think its starving. Just aim to eat healthfully most of the time.
2. Add superfoods to your diet
When eating more healthfully, make sure you’re incorporating superfoods into your daily intake. Things like berries, fresh fish, and kale all pack a powerful punch of nutrition in every bite.
3. Be active
Get out there and get moving. You will feel better all around when you do. Take the baby for a walk in the carrier or stroller, or have someone take care of her while you hit the gym. Whatever active activities you enjoy, get into them with gusto.
4. Keep hydrated
Be sure that you’re drinking enough water. It helps replenish our body. Plus, when we don’t drink enough, we can mistake the signal our bodies are sending out for more hydration as hunger.
5. Get enough sleep
It’s easier said than done once you have kids, but your body needs to get enough sleep. Lack of sleep causes weight gain, especially around the waistline. Try going to bed earlier or working in more naps.
6. Treat yourself
While sitting down with a box of donuts isn’t a good idea, neither is completely depriving yourself of something sweet here and there. Limit your amount of treats so that you can satisfy that sweet tooth when it comes on or better yet, make good-for-you sweets like avocado chocolate pudding that taste amazing without all the calories.
7. Be kind to yourself
For some women, the baby weight melts right off. For others, it takes a lot of work. It can even take years. Be patient and kind to yourself. Don’t compare yourself to others. Just do your best for you and you will start seeing results.
Remember that having a baby is a miraculous thing. Our bodies need time to recover after giving birth. Slowly incorporate more exercise while focusing on eating healthy foods and you’ll soon find yourself getting closer and closer to your goals.
